TSSP 2024 - Toruń Students Summer Program

Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland, is pleased to welcome applications for the 4th edition of the Toruń Students Summer Program – TSSP. TSSP is an opportunity for international students interested in every academic discipline to lead a 4-week-long summer research project in one of the following programs:

  1. TSSP ExSci - Toruń Students Summer Program in Exact Sciences
  2. TABMED Toruń and Bydgoszcz Medical Summer Program
  3. TSSP NatSci - Toruń Students Summer Program in Natural Sciences
  4. TELSP - Toruń Economic and Legal Summer Program
  5. THUS - Torun Humanities and Social Sciences Summer Program

The projects shall be prepared in accordance with the list of disciplines and research topics pursued under one of the five Toruń Students Summer Programs – TSSP (ID - TSSP).

1. TSSP ExSci - Toruń Students Summer Program in Exact Sciences
- astronomy, physics, mathematics, informatics, automatics, robotics, and computer science

2. TABMED Toruń and Bydgoszcz Medical Summer Program
- medicine, pharmacy, laboratory medicine, cosmetology, nursing, midwifery,  physiotherapy, medical rescue, dietetics, public health, ocular optics, optometry

3. TSSP NatSci - Toruń Students Summer Program in Natural Sciences
- biochemistry, biology, biotechnology, chemical sciences, Earth sciences, environmental protection, geography, spatial management, tourism, veterinary

4. TELSP - Toruń Economic and Legal Summer Program
- management, economics, business and administration, finance, accounting, logistics, communication and psychology in business, comparative constitutional law, medical law, insurance law, human rights and bioethics, tax law, new technologies and their impact on criminal procedure, international and EU public and private law

5. THUS - Torun Humanities and Social Sciences Summer Program
- Ancient History, Archeology, Cogtnitive Personality Psychology, Decorative Arts and Conservation of Works of Art, East Central and Northern Europe in the Middle Ages, European Studies, Higher Education, History of Historiography, History, Internal Security, International Relations, Medieval Archeology, Medieval History, Modern History, National Security, Philosophy and Theory of Politics, Political Systems, Political Thought

Program

The main component of the summer program is active participation in the selected research project offered by the staff members of the Nicolaus Copernicus University.

Interested students are welcome to contact possible coordinators of the chosen program for more details concerning the foreseen projects and discuss the dates that the project could be undertaken. The NCU students can join to each project.

Apart from the projects, once a week, we will organise an invited lecture and a lunch or dinner for the entire group for each program. We will also offer short trips/sightseeing in the Toruń and Bydgoszcz area on selected weekends. All students will be asked to give 15-minute presentations about the results of their projects at the end of their stay in Toruń/ Bydgoszcz.

Application

We kindly ask all interested students to provide us with the following information in English or Polish:
  1. Application form; (closed)
  2. Curriculum Vitae (max. 4 pages);
  3. Motivation letter (max. 1 page) containing the title(s) of the project(s) they would like to contribute to
  4. Consent to personal data processing.
  5. Optional: letter of recommendation, e.g. from their scientific advisor, staff member from their institute, former internship advisor, etc.
  6. Proof of student status.

Complete applications must be sent to the address according to the chosen programme before the deadline of March 8th, 2024, 14:00 CET. The results of the selection procedure will be announced after the 25th of March, 2024.

Housing

For each participant, we will offer the student housing in Toruń or Bydgoszcz and a daily allowance of 70 PLN (~15 euro), which is sufficient to cover the living costs during the stay in Poland.

Students will be offered single occupancy rooms in the dormitories of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz.
