TSSP NatSci - Toruń Students Summer Program in Natural Sciences

Faculty of Biological and Veterinary Sciences, Faculty of Chemistry, and Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland, are pleased to welcome applications for the 2021 edition of the TSSP NatSci program. TSSP NatSci is an opportunity for students interested in Natural Sciences to lead a 4-week-long summer research project in one of the following areas (the list is not exhaustive):


For each participant we will offer the student housing in Toruń and a daily allowance of 50 PLN (~12 euro), which is more than sufficient to cover the living costs during the stay in Poland.

Undergraduate students from all countries are encouraged to submit an application for the summer program before 15th May 2021, for details, see *application*.

TSSP NatSci 2021 projects

The main component of the summer program is an active participation in the selected research projects offered by the staff members of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń from Faculty of Biological and Veterinary Sciences, Faculty of Chemistry, and Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management, please see the topics and their descriptions below. Interested students are welcome to contact possible advisors for more details concerning the foreseen projects and discuss the dates that the project could be undertaken.

Please note that the application for summer programmes is available for BSc and MSc students (applications submitted by PhD students in 2021 will be not considered).

This year's TSSP novelty is that the NCU students can apply for the participation in the 2021 TSSP NatSci program.

Apart from the projects, once a week we will organize an invited lecture and a lunch or dinner for the entire group. We will also offer short trips / sightseeing in the Toruń area on selected weekends (depending on the pandemic situation). All students will be asked to give 15-minute presentations about the results of their projects at the end of their stay in Toruń.

Application

We kindly ask all interested students to provide us with the following information in English:
  1. Application form;
  2. Curriculum Vitae (max. 4 pages);
  3. Motivation letter (max. 1 page);
  4. The title(s) of the project(s) they would like to contribute to;
  5. Consent to personal data processing.
  6. Optional: letter of recommendation, e.g. from their scientific advisor, staff member from their institute, former internship advisor, etc.

Complete applications should be sent to natsci [at] umk.pl by the deadline of May 15th, 2021. The results of the selection procedure will be announced by May 21st, 2021.

Housing

Students will be offered single occupancy rooms in the dormitories of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, located at the walking distance from the Bielany Campus (where Faculty of Biological and Veterinary Sciences, Faculty of Chemistry, and Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management are located).
